What's on my Bedside? | A Living Diary

until myself and my boyfriend start to build an annex at my parents house, i live and share a room with him at his parents. it isn’t the smallest room, but it isn’t the biggest; so i do like to make a habit of re-arranging everything quite often to keep it looking fresh.

our bedside table is an ikea expedit shelving unit, and it’s the only surface in the room besides the windowsill that i can play around with. i love interior styling and spend an unhealthy amount of time swapping objects around until i get them looking just right – it’s a little hobby of mine and i’d love to enroll on an interior course in the future.

on top of our bedside, arrangements always tend to include a combination of an anglepoise inspired lamp, one or both of our arne jacobson design letters cup, my ambre diptyque candles, some form of plantlife and a HAY hand; everything else is an assortment of bits i rotate every now and then. my favourite object in this vignette has to be the engraved ceramic skull that my boyfriend brought me back from mexico, and my stack of elle decoration magazines that have recently grown far too big to put anywhere!

what’s on your bedside?

I totally relate to your love of interior styling! I would love to do a course too one day. this set up looks gorgeous, i love the black and white, the cactus, and the skull. perfect! ♥

I love the way you’ve styled this! The candle and cactus are gorgeous. I can relate with not having much space to play with as I’m currently renting from my parents’ too. it limits your styling but kind of makes you more creative as you have to work with what you have! lovely styling.

you’re right, polly! having a small amount of space makes you more aware of what have to work with. as much as i’d love more space, it would easily get neglected. thank you!

i JUST FOUND YOUR BLOG, IT IS SO PRETTY AND STANDS OUT SO WELL: IT IS HARD TO FIND A GOOD LIFESTYLE BLOG THAT DOESN’T FALL INTO THE BEAUTY OR FASHION CATEGORY – WHICH I LOVE ANYWAY, BUT I DO LOVE LIFESTYLE BLOGS MORE. LOVELY POST AND INTERIOR CHOICES X

wow, thanks daria! i understand what you mean. it’s difficult as a blogger to be taken on a serious level; when someone finds out you’re a blogger then assume you’re into beauty or fashion. i’m glad that you like my blog, though :)

Lovely little bit of styling. i cannot wait until i can pull together a few vignettes on my bedside (is this sad?!) I’m currently building a collection of bits and pieces. This is super inspiring!

thank you claire! haha, that’s not sad at all. buying random pieces to gather together and create a beautiful vignette sounds good to me! you will have to show me how you get on.

I love your desk arrangement, I cannot have any amount of clutter around spaces that i work in. i have such a hard time organising my magazines too but they’re amazing to flick through so i could never throw them away!

thanks, abbie! when i work it’s hard to stay focused if there’s mess and clutter around me. you know how it goes “a tidy desk, a tidy mind”. magazines are an amazing and often understated research tool – if they inspire you, keep them!
